NSCDC nabs school staff over defilement of pupil in Ilorin

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested a 43-year-old man, Amuda Kamaldeen, over alleged defilement of a 14-year-old school girl.

The State Commandant, Commandant Abbas Nda-Muhammed, disclosed this to newsmen on Friday, in Ilorin

Nda-Muhammed said that the arrest followed a complaint received by the Gender Unit of the Command, which triggered an immediate investigation into the disturbing allegation.

He said that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, a non-teaching staff member of a public primary school in ilorin, allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with the victim.

“The girl is a primary four pupil and the man had sexual intercourse with her on several occasions, inside his office, within the school premises.

“The girl said that the suspect repeatedly promised to marry her before allegedly subjecting her to the abuse and always covered her mouth while doing the shameful act,” he said.

The Commandant said that they discovered when the victim’s mother reported that her daughter had allegedly become pregnant as a result of the abuse.

He said that the suspect admitted to the offence during interrogation and said that it was the work of the devil.

Nda-Mohammed condemned the act, describing it as a grave violation of the rights, dignity and innocence of a child.

He promised that the Command would pursue the matter to its logical conclusion.

“Schools are meant to nurture, protect and inspire children, not expose them to abuse.

“Any individual who preys on the innocence of a child, particularly within the school environment, has committed a grave offense and will be made to face the full weight of the law,” he said.

“Our children are the ones that will determine how we will enjoy our old age, so let us create time to guide them right in order to have a bright future.

“Anybody caught taking or selling hard drugs will be arrested, prosecuted, and their future ambition will be greatly affected,” Popoola said.

The State Commander called on transport unions to be watchful, vigilant and be very careful with the loads they collect for delivery.

“Drivers should always check the load they collect before sending to its destination, to prevent being accused of involvement in transporting hard drugs.

“Any driver caught taking or transporting hard drugs will be arrested and prosecuted and the vehicles will be seized,” she said.

He called on parents to try their best in raising their children in the best way and never get tired of counselling them, praying that they will enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Kwara NSCDC nabs man for alleged robbery

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested one Abdulrasheed Kadri, popularly known as Soldier, for his involvement in a series of robbery incidents across Kwara and beyond.

The State Commandant, Commandant Abbas Nda-Muhammed, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday, in Ilorin.

Nda-Muhammed said that an operation was carried out by operatives of the Command’s Tracking Unit, after several complaints from residents and business owners.

“We received numerous complaints from people whose homes, shops, and premises were unlawfully broken into and property carted away.

“Acting on intelligence, surveillance and inter-state tracking, the operatives traced a criminal network across state boundaries, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

“The suspect subsequently provided valuable information that led to a warehouse in Ibadan, Oyo State, believed to serve as a major storage facility for property stolen from victims in various parts of Nigeria,” he said.

The State Commandant said that during the operation, NSCDC recovered some stolen items, including a vehicle and other valuables, believed to be proceeds of criminal activities.

He said that the recovered items had been secured and are undergoing further documentation and identification processes, as investigations continue.

Nda-Muhammed said that preliminary findings revealed a well-coordinated criminal network that operates across state lines, targeting homes, business premises, and other locations.

The Commandant further said that the stolen items were transported to designated safe houses for concealment and eventual disposal.

He described the operation as a major milestone in the Command’s determination to dismantle organized criminal networks and ensure the safety of residents of Kwara.

“This operation sends a clear message that criminals will find no refuge in Kwara.

“We will not allow our state to become a sanctuary for criminal elements, corridor for criminal activities, or repository for illegal weapons and stolen properties.

“Our resolve remains unshaken. Through intelligence-led operations, strategic partnerships with other security agencies to identify, pursue and bring to justice all individuals and groups that threaten public peace and security,” Nda-Muhammed said.

He urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies, as collective vigilance remains vital to sustaining peace and security within the state.

Kwara govt warns public against roadside dumping of refuse

Kwara government has warned the general public against roadside dumping of refuse, emphasizing that it is a punishable offence under the state environmental law.

The State government said that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of June would be observed across the 16 Local Government Areas of the state between 7 a.m to 10 a.m.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Mrs Shakirat Muritala, on Thursday, in Ilorin.

The Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa-Buge called on residents to utilize the sanitation exercise opportunity to remove overgrown grasses, bushes and clean up their homes, business premises and   drainages.

She enjoined members of the public to participate fully in the sanitation exercise and identify sources of nuisance or hazard, to sustain a clean and safe environment in the State.

Musa-Buge said that there would be no vehicular and human movement across the state during the sanitation period.

She further said that waste management trucks would be made available for waste collection and subsequent disposal at government approved dump sites.

“Security agencies and environmental officers have been positioned in strategic areas to apprehend offenders and move them to the nearest mobile court for prosecution.

“Residents should therefore desist from dumping refuse on pedestrian walkways, road side, drainages, canals, and all other unapproved dump sites,” Commissioner said.

Kwarapoly suspends lecturer over physical reprimand

The Management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has suspended a lecturer for physically beating students.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mrs Halima Garba, on Tuesday in Ilorin.

Garba said that the attention of the Management of Kwara State Polytechnic had been drawn to a viral video circulating on social media in which a lecturer is seen physically reprimanding students.

“The Management wishes to clarify that the students depicted in the video are not polytechnic students but rather IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board) candidates who arrived late for their ongoing examinations.

“The intention for which the action was done is not yet known. We emphasise that the approach taken was wholly inappropriate,” she said.

The PRO assured that the polytechnic stands firmly against any form of violence or physical punishment, as a means of discipline by its lecturers in any academic engagement.

“We believe that education should be rooted in respect, understanding, and constructive guidance.

“There are far more effective and humane ways to instill important values in students than just beating,” she said.

Garba said that the polytechnic management therefore suspends the concerned lecturer from his duties henceforth, pending the outcome of the findings on the matter.

“We appreciate the concerns raised by stakeholders regarding this incident and assure the public that the matter is being taken very seriously.

“In the light of this incident, the management wishes to express its sincere and unalloyed confidence on integrity and values for which Kwara State Polytechnic is known.

“We assured the public that we are determined to take the necessary steps to prevent subsequent recurrence in the future,” she said.

YOU CAN’T UN-VOTE SYD —ARẸWA QUEEN REPLIES ABDULMAJEED’S PROXIES

RE: TWO NAIRALAND ARTICLES ATTACKING ARẸWA QUEEN — FACTS OVER PERSONAL DRAMA

I was asked not to engage further. But since Comrade AbdulGaniyu AbdulRahman and Ajoshe Woman Leader published two separate articles attacking my person instead of addressing Kwara APC issues, I will respond once —with facts.

A. ON THE ARISE TV INTERVIEW & APC PRIMARY— THE REAL ISSUE

  1. There was a primary. A winner emerged.
The Kwara APC Governorship Primary Committee, chaired by Hon. Obanikoro Musiliu, conducted an election. People voted. Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi [SYD] was declared winner.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Kwara APC Chairman, ALGON, and other stakeholders have all congratulated SYD. That is process, not “sudden reversal.”
  2. TV is not the Appeal Panel.
If Abdulmajeed Abdullahi believes the process was flawed, APC has a constitutional Appeal Panel. Arise TV is not it. Nairaland is not it.
You cannot claim loyalty to the Governor while using national television to cast doubt on a primary conducted under his leadership. That is not “analysis.” That is sabotage.
  3. Endorsement vs. Primary.
Endorsement is preference, not consensus. Primary is process. Gov. AbdulRazaq can endorse who he wants. But once people vote, the party moves on.
SYD congratulated Amb. Yahaya Seriki when he was endorsed. Where is that sportsmanship now?

B. ON ABDULMAJEED ABDULLAHI’S PUBLIC RECORD —A PATTERN OF FAILURE

Before he was handed Harmony Holdings, his record was already public:

  1. He failed as Youth Leader, NASFAT Youth Wing. No legacy, no impact.
  2. He failed Nigerian youth at the National Youth Council. He betrayed the same close allies who sponsored his election as Youth Council President. He bit the hand that fed him.
  3. He failed Kwarans under this APC administration. The Governor who prioritizes youth gave him a chance as GMD, Harmony Holdings. Under his watch, Kwara Express folded up and state assets deteriorated. His exit was not ceremonial.
  4. If his tenure was “transformative,” why is EFCC reportedly holding his passport? Why is DSS reportedly still looking for him? He should channel this media energy into pleading with EFCC, not dragging names on Nairaland.

Routine or not, public officers account for their stewardship. That is accountability, not witch-hunt. You cannot benefit from a system you did not work for, then attack it when it no longer favors you.

C. ON THE PERSONAL ATTACKS AGAINST ARẸWA QUEEN

Both articles spent 80% of their words attacking me —my title, my morals, my English. That tells Kwarans you have no response to the issues I raised.

  1. I am not “faceless.”
I am Queen-Latifah. I write as Arẹwa Queen, a brand I’ve built since 2019 through advocacy and media work for APC and my community. If you have issues with a pageant, face the organizers. My work for Kwara APC predates and outlives any crown. Besides, I am a former MISS. I won and served as the longest-reigning Arewa, not because I am beautiful alone, but because I am beautiful with brains. The track record of my skill acquisition and empowerment programs for women and youth during my reign is on Google and beneficiaries remain grateful.
  2. Attacking a woman’s character is not politics.
Calling me “wayward,” dragging “civil defense cases,” and discussing my personal life is the oldest trick of failed politicians: when you cannot fault the message, attack the messenger.
Kwarans are watching how you defend your principal’s TV gaffe and who you truly recognize as leader in Kwara APC today.
  3. “Educational deficit” claim.
My English, good or bad, delivered facts Abdulmajeed Abdullahi cannot refute. Propaganda needs big grammar. Truth needs only clarity. I am a communicator, not a linguist. My target is effective communication. I don’t write to impress people with grammar like you guys.

D. FINAL WORD TO THE REAL MASQUERADES

  1. Stop using proxies.
If Abdulmajeed Abdullahi has a response, let him write it himself. Hiding behind “Comrade” and “Woman Leader” to insult a young woman is cowardice, not strategy. Be bold enough to step forward.
  2. Kwara has moved on.
Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is our leader. SYD is our gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 general election. The President has spoken. The Party has spoken.
You can write 100 articles, TV shows, radio, blogs, and sponsor data boys. You cannot un-vote a primary that was already conducted and won. Thinking another announcement will come after the one by Hon. Obanikoro, sent by the National Party, shows how myopic you are.
  3. My position remains:
I deal in facts. If any statement here is false, counter it with documents, not insults. I will not be bullied into silence because I am a woman in politics.

Kwara deserves issue-based discourse, not Nairaland soap opera. Let’s be logical.

Abdulrazaq Presents Danladi as APC Governorship Candidate to Emir of Ilorin

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Speaker of the House of Assembly and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

The visit of the Governor and the APC governorship candidate came after the Emir officially announced the appointment of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani as the 13th Chief Imam of the Ilorin Emirate on Wednesday, June 10, through his personal assistant, Abdulraheem Muritala.

Governor Abdulrazaq commended Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on the choice of Sheikh Dasuki to assume such an important spiritual position and prayed that Allaah guide and protect him, perfect His blessings upon him, and grant him long life and good health in the service of the ummah.

During the visit, the Governor also presented Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi to the Emir as the governorship candidate of the APC, while the monarch bestowed royal blessings on him and wished him well in the forthcoming Kwara State governorship election.

The Governor’s presentation of the Speaker to Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari as his successor has been widely interpreted by observers and political commentators as a move not only to seek royal blessings but also to strengthen grassroots acceptance and signal continuity in governance across the state.
